The 2021 Toyota Corolla puts a slightly new twist on a familiar vehicle. With many options to choose from, drivers are sure to find the model for them. To make your decision a little easier, here’s your guide to this year’s Toyota Corolla.
This four-door compact sedan is available in eight styles, each offering a common yet unique driving experience. All models come equipped with front-wheel drive and continuously-variable transmission systems. New in 2021 to reduce fuel-consumption, Corolla models include automatic start-stop engines to accompany electric power steering, an electronically-controlled braking system, and LED lights.
This series’ base model, the Toyota Corolla L boasts a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder twin-cam 16-valve engine delivering up to 139 horsepower. Other models such as the Corolla SE out-put up to 169 horsepower with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder twin-cam 16-valve engine. On average, gas-engine Corollas achieve 32-34 combined miles per gallon.
Starting at $20,025, this year’s Toyota Corolla L presents the most standard option. The Hybrid LE proves an economical choice at $23,600, while the XSE Apex Edition falls on the more costly end of the spectrum at $28,310. Prices may vary with the addition of packages or individual options.
A car for every occasion, this year’s Toyota Corolla provides a range of variability in, both, fashion and function. There are eight standard exterior paint options with two-tone coating available for certain models. With wheel sizes varying from 15 to 18 inches, all-season tires provide on-the-road security the whole year-round.
Also enhancing the driving experience is a standard 4.2-inch Multi-Information Display, a six-speaker audio system with a 7-inch touchscreen, two USB 2.0 ports, and smartphone compatibility. Corolla owners can feel protected with ten airbags, an integrated backup camera, Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.0 alerts, and Toyota’s Star Safety System implementing Smart Stop Technology®.
At the top of this line are the SE and XSE Apex Editions, wrapped in a bronze-accented sport exterior with blacked-out badging. On 18-inch aluminum wheels, Apex Editions offer six-speed intelligent manual transmission and sport-tuned suspension and exhausts. Apex models also come already equipped with Audio Plus.
The Corolla Hybrid LE serves as the sole hybrid option in this year’s lineup. Stocked with the same 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine, this model exhausts up to 121 horsepower and averages 52 combined miles per gallon. Drivers may experience Normal, Power, and ECO driving modes on 15-inch alloy wheels.
For those looking to further customize their 2021 Corolla, additional packages are available for select models. Specific to the Corolla LE, the Convenience package adds a Smart Key push-to-start system, Blind Spot Monitor, and Rear Cross-Traffic alert. A Premium package applicable to the Corolla LE or SE includes the benefits of the Convenience package along with the installation of a power-sliding moonroof.
Audiophiles can enjoy an Audio Plus multimedia system and the option of nine added JBL speakers or wireless charging with the Connectivity package. Alternatively, the Lighting package available for the XLE and XSE models allows for an adaptive front-lighting system and ambient interior lighting.
